Folklore group rastko

As an essential element of Serbian culture, folk dancing has long prevailed as a form of folk art that has preserved the national identity and traditional values of Serbia throughout centuries. Serbian folk dance, known as “kolo” is present in almost every social gathering, including religious and secular celebrations.

At its inception, the Folklore group was known as Mladost, and its members came from St. Stevan Decanski Church in Warren and St. Dimitrije church in Windsor. As the group grew and had more interest Stevan Decanski, St. Petka Vratnica, and Holy Ascension formed their own group in 1993 known as Rastko Serbian Folklore Group. Over the years, many dancers have danced and celebrated Serbian heritage with us. Currently, our folklore group consists of over 60 dancers in 3 groups: small, middle, and older group. Each year we welcome new members throughout the year and encourage all parents to reach out to us about joining our group.
